Thoughts Behind the Lens

Theme Building

"Inspirations": Images of Iceland by Ron Rosenstock at the National Museum of Iceland

Building a theme is an essential aspect of creating images for an exhibition.  In fact, it really is a natural process that occurs simply as the result of the passion for the creative process.  It takes time to find the theme you can become passionate about.  It almost has to happen to you, as if the universe planted an idea into your head.  The theme has to find you and you have to be ready for it.

As the theme unfolds, your images take on common traits and you begin to see variations on your theme, just as a composer, a painter, a potter or a sculptor.

My exhibits are always based on a theme... Just browse through my books and you can see themes that have moved me.
