The Primal Beauty of Iceland

Iceland is the one place on earth that brings you face to face with the origin of the world.  Every landscape you can imagine is present in Iceland, from geysers and waterfalls to ice fields and miles of volcanic debris.  Sulfur hot springs and bubbling pots of color.  Reindeer, puffins, seals and isolated villages of farms, churches and winding lanes that climb up to views from sea stacks that seem to curve past the horizon.

Within fifteen minutes of leaving Reykjavik you see a dramatic, primeval landscape with lava fields, rivers and rainbows.  There is not a car or person around. You feel as if you are the first person to see this place and experience its creative energy.

Iceland is a paradise for landscape photographers ….

Many of my images are reflective.  Not just in thought, but visibly in water.  It is an image that you see over and over in Iceland … glacial lakes surrounded by stunning ice-scapes under a changeable sky.  My latest book, Inspirations is a collection of photographs that show why Iceland is a place I will return to again and again.  It was the focus for my recent exhibition at the National Museum of Iceland in 2014.  Visit my Shop for more information on my books.

Waiting at the water's edge, on the black sand beach at Vik, every wave leaves a different pattern on the sand never to appear again. - Ron Rosenstock
